The dust collector is on the Port Allen bank
You searched an East Baton Rouge grain terminal for a dust-collector fault. The port publishes the export elevator at 527 Elevator Road in Port Allen, West Baton Rouge Parish. An oil-mist manifold for the east bank is not in that record.
The answer for the east bank
Send the dust crew to the published elevator in Port Allen, or stop if the only address is a house in Baton Rouge. The port page gives Louis Dreyfus at 527 Elevator Road, Port Allen, LA 70767.1 Louisiana Economic Development places that elevator in West Baton Rouge Parish.2 The auditor’s roster includes East Baton Rouge members.3 A commission seat is not a dust manifold. No oil-injection schedule showed up on the elevator page.
- The collector rule you still use, once you are on the Port Allen house, is 1910.272(l) and (j).
- The belt layout for that house is on the West Baton Rouge page, because the AgCenter split the conveyors there.
- A mineral-oil mist story is unsupported here. Do not buy nozzles for a manifold the port page does not describe.
The rule once you are at the real elevator
Fabric collectors on a pneumatic system need a pressure-drop monitor under 1910.272(l)(1), accessed 8 October 2026.4 After 30 March 1988 they are outside, suppressed, or behind a one-hour exterior wall with a deflagration vent. Dust over 1/8 inch within 35 feet of an inside leg comes off immediately. Those duties follow the elevator, not the words “Baton Rouge.”
1910.272(m)(2) still requires prompt correction of a collector that is down on efficiency. That sentence is the employer’s, at the facility where the collector sits. The port page lists cleaning, drying, mixing, and loading, and a USDA inspection presence. It does not list oil-mist pumps. If your plant truly uses mineral oil as a dust suppressant, bring the manufacturer’s sheet. This parish page will not fake one.
If you skip the bank
The truck goes to an East Baton Rouge street, finds no export elevator, and loses the shift while a Port Allen collector keeps running below design efficiency. That is the (m)(2) failure plus a wasted mobilization. Commission minutes do not move 527 Elevator Road. The auditor’s barge crane is for the west-bank elevator, not a second collector.
Who signs, who pays, and how long
| Item | Where it is written | Consequence of ignoring it |
|---|---|---|
| Elevator address | Port elevator page, Port Allen 70767 | Crew dispatched to the wrong bank |
| Parish | LED release: West Baton Rouge | An East Baton Rouge bid package is the wrong job site |
| Commissioners from East Baton Rouge | Legislative auditor roster | Governance only; not a plant |
| Pressure-drop device | 1910.272(l)(1), at the elevator that has the collector | A fabric collector with no monitor |
| Diagnostic price | Not published for either bank | Verify at the house that actually has the machine |
How Port Allen’s own page differs
The west-bank page is about the two belts. This page is about not starting the dust job on the east bank. Read both if the symptom is dust at a pulley: the belt identity is west bank, and the address check is this note. Convent’s enclosed gallery is a different river mile and a different operator. The Port Allen conveyor note is the belt split. The inspection list is the order of collector defects. The rule page holds the cost table for charges that are actually published.
| Point | East Baton Rouge search | Port Allen record |
|---|---|---|
| Street address for the elevator | Not on the port elevator page | 527 Elevator Road, Port Allen, LA 70767 |
| Oil-mist manifold | Not in the documents read | Not in the documents read |
| Belt systems | Not described | Separated by the AgCenter note on the west-bank page |
| Who can be from East Baton Rouge | Commission members in the audit | That fact does not move the silos |
Checklist before the truck leaves
- Match the address to 527 Elevator Road, Port Allen. If it does not match, stop.
- If it matches, move the dust questions to 1910.272(l) and (j) at that house.
- Do not order oil-mist nozzles from this page. The part is not in the record.
- Pair any hot pulley with the west-bank belt checklist so you are on the inbound or the outbound belt.
- A house in Baton Rouge, and any terminal in Mississippi, Texas, or Arkansas, does not get a callback.
Fee and timeline
Neither the port page nor the LED release prints a price to diagnose a collector, an oil pump, or a nozzle. The auditor’s $6,952,000 figure is an expected capital crane, not a dust invoice. There is no timeline here for restoring a mist. The fee is unpublished. Verify it at 527 Elevator Road if that is the machine.
Questions that confuse the two banks
Is there a grain elevator in East Baton Rouge Parish?
Not on the port’s export-elevator page, which gives a Port Allen address, and not in the LED release, which says West Baton Rouge Parish. East Baton Rouge names appear as commission members in a legislative audit. That is not a plant address. If a different elevator exists, it needs its own document. These pages do not show it.
Where do I apply the pressure-drop rule?
On the fabric collector that is part of a pneumatic system at the elevator you are standing in. 1910.272(l)(1) does not apply to a parish name. Once the address is Port Allen, the rule is the same federal paragraph used at Convent and at Destrehan. The local difference is the bank, not a private version of the gauge.
What about oil mist as a dust suppressant?
It is a real method in the industry and it is not documented on the port elevator page read for this note. Without a pump curve, a nozzle count, or a pressure the operator published, this desk will not specify a repair. Bring the sheet or stay with the fabric-collector rule that is published.
Who do I call if the address is wrong?
Use the port elevator contact printed on that page for the house, and use the callback here only after you confirm the collector is on the Port Allen elevator. A residence in Baton Rouge is a refusal. So is a terminal in Mississippi, Texas, or Arkansas.
